Midge and Garden

Here is Midge heading into her secret hiding spot. There is a cat circle in the middle of the bed, made by a very identifiable flying object. Midge can go from  zero to four feet in the blink of an eye in her unrelenting quest for the goldfinch. I had sunflowers in each corner of this bed, but Midge, in her quest to catch the goldfinch that love sunflowers and zinnias and all seeded flowers (oops, didn't know that until very recently), had pretty much demolished them with her crazed leaps. The zinnias have taken some hits too.

I pulled up my beans, and now Midge seems determined to dig up the broccoli. Either that or she is devising another hiding spot so she can surprise the unsuspecting birds. She likes to sleep in this hole with a big old broccoli leaf shading her. Occasionally she is startled awake when a cherry tomato bops her on the head.
One of my tomato beds. My grape tomatoes are turbo charged this year, some of them are as big as a  Roma tomato. My tomatoes aren't getting very large, but are very sweet and delicious. I have a bumper pepper crop, lots of zucchini, and a couple of pumpkins turning orange. Carrots are coming along, and the potato tops are starting to die. I did sneak into the potato bed for some new potatoes. Yum. My two beets (I'm not sure what happened to the other beet seeds lol), are coming along. My thyme and catnip are flowering and attracting a ton of butterflies and hummingbirds, very fun. Overall a very nice garden year for me. Maybe my thumb is turning a wee bit green. NOT like after the St. Patrick's Day party where I had a small accident with the green dye whilst dyeing my beer. LOL

I could have sworn I posted last week. My weigh-in was disastrous after having Monday off and spending the day in my friend's pool drinking beer and applying expired sunscreen faithfully, according to label directions. Whew. I don't think even I can gain 6 pounds in one day, so when I weighed my fried ass last week, all I could do was attribute the monstrous gain to the Monday pool party. Hopefully I will be able to confirm that tomorrow with a successful weigh in!

Back tomorrow.
